Print has been around far longer than most of us. There is a tangible allure to holding something you enjoy in your hands. While print may not be around forever, it’s not dead yet.
A coffee table book is a very specific form of print. Though it is a bit static, it prioritizes larger-scale photography, presentation, and feel. One inherent issue here is that most people only use these books for decoration and neglect the content inside.
Piston & Pace, while specific to vintage motorsport and classic sports cars, was created as a middle ground between the coffee table book and a magazine. Ideally, it is a combination to bridge this gap: a coffee-table-quality magazine that automotive enthusiasts actually want to read.
Simply put, the goal of Piston & Pace is two-fold: 1. To share and revive some of our world's greatest automotive stories, ideally in a way that inspires interest in classic cars and vintage motorsports in a younger generation. 2. Deliver this content in a medium between an everyday magazine and a quality coffee table book.
This publication explores some of the romance of the older motoring era. A time when cars had innate beauty from the factory, and when racing felt drastically more intense. Newer cars are cool, but there is an entire rich history and deep passion that laid the foundation for today's world.
When you get your hands on any issue of Piston & Pace, please do not skip the masthead, which outlines everyone involved, or the credit section at the back. All issues rely on other people's hard work, and they deserve recognition and praise.
